When we connect to the Internet with alternative methods to Network Manager, like Bluetooth, Firefox does not go "ONLINE" automatically at startup.
This is a bug already known for some time in the community of Firefox and that seems for the moment, still a bit undervalued.
The problem is due to the fact that Firefox start itself in "Online" mode or "Offline" mode, after checked the status of the connection through Network Manager.
Now, it's easy to understand that using an alternative connection, Firefox will find Network Manager disconnected and will start in "Offline" mode.
To solve this small but annoying problem, you have to avoid that Firefox check the connection in Network Manager. |

This guide was created with the purpose to resolve one of most important issues for neophytes of the Linux community : Connecting to the internet trough mobile phone and bluetooth.
I also tried to explain the meaning of the various steps, because I have observed that most of the howtos that it's possible to find on the web, show the operations to be done but not their meaning and the consequential effects on the system.
The following operations have been tested on Fedora, but should work for most Linux distributions.
And now, Good Job!

Technology goes forward and we can not stay and watch without exploiting the potential that it offers.
For many years we have been submerged by electrical cables, one for each device that was attached to our computer.
Then someone thought to use radio waves to carry data from one device to another.
From that moment were born many ways to exploit this technology, among which we can remember:
- GSM / GPRS / UMTS / HDSPA FOR MOBILE PHONES;
- WI-FI FOR NETWORKS;
- BLUETOOTH FOR DATA TRANSPORT BETWEEN ELECTRONIC DEVICES.
Today we focus on the last one and we will see quickly how to exploit it on Linux for connection between computer and phone.
The software (free of course) that allows us to do this is called BLUEZ.

In this howto we will see how quickly set up KPPP to connect Linux to Internet through the phone (or similar device as a modem on usb-key).
